Trump and Swift Receive Mixed Reactions
No sitting U.S. president had ever attended a Super Bowl—until Donald Trump changed that within 20 days of returning to the White House.
Trump’s history with the NFL is complex. During his first term, he clashed with players who kneeled during the national anthem in protest against racism. His appearance in New Orleans came as the league replaced the "End Racism" end zone message with "Choose Love" for Super Bowl 59.
For this high-profile event, the president arrived about an hour before kickoff, walking the field alongside his daughter Ivanka, and a large entourage. When shown on the stadium’s big screen, he received mostly cheers from the crowd. During the anthems, he remained reserved, giving photographers plenty of opportunities to capture patriotic moments.
